Recent and compelling Goodreads reviews of my latest novel, The Sum of All Our Anger: Civil War 2.0.
### William R. Douglas delivers a striking and unsettling vision of America’s future in The Sum of All Our Anger: Civil War 2.0, a novel that feels less like distant fiction and more like a plausible extension of today’s ideological fractures. From the opening pages, the narrative establishes a tone of quiet dread, one that builds steadily into something far more explosive. What impressed me most is the author’s commitment to complexity. There are no easy villains here. President Devin Cyrus, Governor Mary Whitfield, and DeShawn King are not caricatures; they are fully realized individuals shaped by conviction, fear, and deeply personal beliefs. Each perspective forces the reader to confront uncomfortable questions about loyalty, governance, and the limits of compromise. The pacing is deliberate but effective. Rather than rushing into conflict, Douglas allows the tension to simmer, showing how societal division creeps into families, communities, and institutions. By the time the threat of civil war becomes undeniable, it feels tragically inevitable. Perhaps the most compelling thread is Bishop Jackson King’s internal struggle. His position caught between duty, family, and faith embodies the emotional core of the story. Through him, the novel transcends politics and becomes something far more human. This is not a book that offers easy answers, nor does it attempt to reassure. Instead, it challenges the reader to reflect on the fragility of unity in a deeply divided society. Thought-provoking, sobering, and deeply relevant, this novel is a must-read for anyone who appreciates intelligent, character-driven political fiction. -Stacey H., (Goodreads Review) 4-11-26 ### This novel delivers a chilling and thought-provoking vision of America pushed to the brink. The author skillfully explores how ideology, when taken to extremes, fractures not just a nation but families and identities. Each character feels real and conflicted, especially Bishop Jackson King, whose internal struggle adds emotional depth to the unfolding chaos. The pacing keeps you engaged while raising difficult questions about loyalty, justice, and what defines a country. It’s not just a story about war, but about people, belief, and consequence. A bold, unsettling read that lingers long after the final page and forces reflection on today’s divisions. - Paul Ezekiel, (5-stars Goodreads Review) 4-11-26 ### This is more than a thriller it’s a reflection of human division. The characters are complex, and their choices carry real weight. I couldn’t stop thinking about it even after finishing. Highly recommended for readers who enjoy deep, meaningful fiction. - Poskana (5-stars Goodreads Review) 4-2-26 ### I was completely drawn into this chilling vision of the future. The conflict felt real, emotional, and frighteningly believable. The personal struggles within families made it even more impactful. Five stars for this bold and unforgettable story. - Traci Wayen (5-stars Goodreads Review) 4-2-26

A councilwoman in the Washington State City of Lynwood creates an uproar over the American Flag.
A major touchpoint theme in my novel is the replacement of Old Glory. To be fair, this lady backtracked big time in her follow-up response, but dang, the theme of flag replacement is gaining steam among the radicals. Although not a news article, this is a well-written and well-documented essay whose theme links powerfully to a major tenet of my novel.
How about a little 'mo' for my book sales as 2025 ends and we head into 2026.
Always nice to see reviews like this: Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2025 Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase WOW ~ Busy Christmas Day 2025 reading 'non-stop' William R. Douglas "The Sum Of All Our Anger - Civil War 2.0" and was not disappointed at all --- Such a POWERFUL Novel on America's Second Civil War. This book caught my attention immediately & just couldn't put it down. I was shocked, as the book appeared even PROPHETIC in much of our time, as 2025 ends -- Shocking scenarios with Oklahoma & Texas, other States. It's a page turner. If you wonder what an American Civil War (Modern Day) Civil War 2.0 would look like, then search no more. Such a powerful novel of REVELATION in our time !!!! The political assassination of Conservative Influencer, CEO and founder of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk, has set off a seismic-reaction on both sides of the aisle.
There are some disturbing developments worth keeping an eye on.
1. The NYC Mayoral Primary had an upset with self-described 'Democratic Socialist' Zohran Mamdani scoring a stunning upset win over Mario Cuomo. The problem is, mainstream, longtime, staunch Democrats have stated that Mamdani's private and public statements clearly point to him being an outright Communist. 2.) In the Minneapolis Mayoral process, another so-called 'Democratic Socialist', a young (35), American-born Somali descent Muslim, Omar Fateh, received the endorsement of the Minnesota Democratic Party, over the objections of current Minneapolis Mayor Frey. The problem is, Fateh also embraces many aspects of Communism. The above is a prototype of one of my central characters in my latest novel, The Sum of All Our Anger: Civil War 2.0. In it, the newly elected President Devin Cyrus. He is the first openly socialist to win the Presidency. As the opening pages reveal, he's actually a Marxist who has hidden himself under the label of a Democratic Socialist. A proverbial Trojan horse. The November elections featuring these two will be a bellwether sign as to the appetite for communist ideology in New York and Minneapolis. Stay tuned! Whilst we were celebrating the 249th Birthday of the United States this past 4th of July weekend (tragically, I think we can use the term: 'These Divided States of America',) in Chicago in event was held called "Socialism 2025." The forum was held over July 3rd - 6th at The Hyatt Regency McCormick Place in downtown Chicago. Conference topics clearly indicate that this collection of extreme leftists is HIDING under the banner of the term 'Democratic Socialism'. They are, as predicted in my novel: The Sum of All Our Anger: Civil War 2.0, not willing to use the 'C' word (Communist). Yet, clearly they are. On the forums website at: https://socialismconference.org/2025-schedule/ among the myriad of breakout sessions held were: * Marxism Education Series * The Proletariat Has No Homeland: Property and the Surplus Class * Art and Communism * Becoming Working Class Revolutionaries * The Struggle for Collective Liberation * Socialism and the Long March of the Left in Mexico This is just a smidgeon from the forum's own website. There is also a link listing 'Endorsing Organizations'. Included in this list of extremists is an organization called "SALVAGE". As a logo, they have switched out the letter G with the Hammer and Sickle. https://salvage.zone/about-2/ Meanwhile, in New York City, a communist is now the Democratic Mayoral Candidate for Mayor of that city. To their credit, mainline Patriotic Democrats are frantically trying to figure out how to derail this guy's candidacy. It remains to be seen how this all plays out. In my novel, a radical leftist from New York City becomes the President of the United States in the year 2061. He also hides under the term Democratic Socialist when he is, in fact, a full-blown Marxist Communist. His inauguration sets off a chain reaction that throws the nation into Civil War 2.0. This post is public and shareable. I encourage you to get my novel, read it, and spread its message before it's too late. So, my new ad is going out in the June edition of the U.S. Marine Corps Association Leatherneck Magazine. Readership is 111,790! THE SUM OF ALL OUR ANGER: CIVIL WAR 2.0 TOP ROW CENTER! #civilwar #civilwarhistory
@USMC A great 5-star review is in from Author and Podcast Host of Online for AuthorsWith the election over and the Trump Administration continueing to implement an agenda that is pretty much the polar opposite of the Progressives Agenda of the Biden era, the backlash grows daily.
Part and parcel with it, the growing anger on the extreme left. No doubt a long list of names has been documented and when the time comes for retribution from the extreme left, it will be fierce. The question is not a matter of if, but a matter of when. It seems like the extremists on the left are doubling down on what they are pushing for, even though the main tenants, open borders and the trans issue, appears to have been the top two issues that cost them the Presidency. The issues proved too extreme for the Idependents and traditional old guard Democrats. Hence, the reason why so many jumped ship and became Independents or swallowed the Red Pill and became Republicans. The closing days of the last semester of college may see a pause in the revolt with the summer break. But, there is no doubt that the court battles, the rancor, name calling and everything will continue to smolder. Time will tell what happens in the Fall. |
