My debut novel! Released May 10, 2022!

Picture

In the year 2166, a post Second Civil War America is finally back on its feet. Among the countless personal and cultural casualties of the war, the sport of baseball has been dead for over a hundred years. 12-year-old Joe Scott lives in the northern Illinois city of McHenry and goes exploring in the woods one day in a no man's land that a hundred years earlier was the site of the bloodiest battle of the war. While there, he discovers a relic from the distant past, from before the war. It sparks a search for its meaning. Little does he know that the wheels of Providence have been unwittingly set in motion which leads to a stunning discovery in Dyersville, Iowa.

This second discovery has a direct connection with the relic found in McHenry. As events unfold, Joe finds himself at the center of the rediscovery of a sport long lost and forgotten by the ravages of time and war. With no living person having any first-hand knowledge of the game, can he figure out the pieces of the puzzle to resurrect the game of baseball? Will his friends take to the game? What will the adults think?

Soon, the answers begin to unfold, and a magical sequence of events leads to an epic finale on a national stage!

Well after surpassing a 100+ copies sold. Some may wonder (including me), what's next?

I have several complimentary copies out to influencers. Anyone of whom, if they like the book and give it a plug in their respective sphere of influence, will make things start popping real quick. These influencers include print, radio and TV.

One influence is the Mayor of Dyersvill, Iowa, home of that most famous movie site ballfield, The Field of Dreams.

Well, since launch day on May 10, there's been all sorts of encouraging signs and activities.

First, I'm nearing my first 100 copies sold milestone.

Second, I have lots of active channels open to influencers in the hopes of getting that extra special plug to ignite sales.  One such channel was a complimentary copy sent to Mayor Jeff Jacque of Dyersville, IL.  At last check, he was 50 pages in and loving the story. He's invited me to connect with hi in August during the MLB at Fields of Dream 2022. Interestingly enough, when his wife saw the book cover, she became intrigued and decided to read the book as well.

Stay tune!

On May 10, 2022, a journey that began in the fall of 2016, reached its goal line of getting my first novel finished; The Death and Resurrection of Baseball. It was a long journey that had many challenges to overcome, the least of which was getting the story out from my mind onto the page.

Once that was done, the minutia of edit, correct, rinse, repeat. A small gaggle of people helped me get here to this point off a first published work. Susan Belanger was an early editor. Then we had Maggie O'Brien, Kylie Gardner, Glenn Pedersen, Breanna Pedersen, Jim Fraser, Ashley Melander and Ryan Forsythe. The last two being payed professionals.

Now that its out, what happens next? Only the Good Lord knows. So far the early reviews are ALL good.

Stay tuned!
